About me

In West Flemish, my dialect of Dutch, there is an expression “uitleggen en ventjes tekenen” (explain and draw little figures), which you can use to express disbelief in something someone tells you. If someone comes up with a detailed but implausible story, you can respond with: “ja ja, uitleggen en ventjes tekenen”.
Explaining and drawing little figures is also a summary of my life. I have been “explaining” professionally for more than thirty years, in the advertising and consultancy sector. Explaining why this campaign is perfect for your brand, or why you absolutely must intervene in your company in such and such a way.
I have also been “drawing figures” all my life, but not professionally, and only in the margins. Literally in the margins, of every course or file I ever got my hands on.
Until September 2021, when I started a comic strip drawing course with Mario Boon. I grew up on a diet of De Rode Ridder, Jommeke, and Piet Pienter en Bert Bibber, and apart from a little Largo Winch in recent years, I never went much further. No manga, no superhero comics, no American comic noir. But Mario’s inexhaustible knowledge of comics is contagious, and so I’m starting to feel a strong urge to make comics myself.
So voilà, here I am, with this site featuring my own personal comic pages. It will be updated on an irregular basis as we work more and learn to draw better. I’m looking forward to it—and hopefully you are too.
